Oil pulling Gandusha is an ancient Ayurvedic treatment rather a daily routine activity. It literally means to take 2-3 tablespoons oil, swish in your mouth until your mouth is completely filled by saliva and then throw it.
Sesame oil is recommended by ancient texts but one can also use pure coconut oil. Sesame oil is basically good for strengthening teeth, gums, reducing cough. But some people may feel nausea or vomiting as they are not used to it. So we recommend to start with coconut oil pulling and then once you are habitual can be shifted to sesame oil.
Best time to do oil pulling – In the morning before breakfast. Thus it will help to cleanse the oral cavity before you start your day activities.
Post treatment – You can do oil pulling with or without gargles. Better to do warm water gargles after oil pulling. That will help to remove the deep seated particles of food and cough. Then if you want you can brush your teeth as usual.
